Depth, Intensity, and Breadth”, 2018
Solvent transferred ink on paper and book cloth
6”x12” with slipcase

I was asked to create an artist book about a biographical topic from history and I chose to research the 10th Mountain Division, a light infantry unit in the Army dedicated to Mountain based warfare during World War II. Over the course of six weeks, I created a 15’ long, accordion style artist book that recounts the importance of the 10th Mountain division’s training in relation to what they accomplished in WWII. For the book, I used 60 original images of the unit from 1941/1942 to create a continuous panoramic photo in photoshop that leads the viewer through the facets of their training. The design (see below) was solvent transferred to a heavyweight cotton based paper and constructed into an accordion style artist book featuring a slipcase for protection.
